Recycling

Today we had a great little surf and then went back to the township for our next community project. The Supertubes Foundation has set a fantastic recycling initiative that takes place every Monday. Kids in the township collect recyclables and trade them for Mula (play money). The amount of Mula they get depends on what type on recycling they bring in, glass or plastic and how much. Everything gets weighed and then the kids get to go shopping! The Supertubes Foundation gets all sorts of things donated for the store: clothes, toys, food, soap, tooth brushes. It’s a combo of things they actually need (condensed milk) and things they actually want (bubbles and soccer balls). I’m not sure which part was more rewarding, seeing the kids with all their new treasures or seeing the huge pile of recycling that was collected. Win win really.
